Successful Completion of the webinar titled: “Employment Opportunity in a global world, seeking job vs creating job”

Green Business School of Green University hosted a webinar on November 24, 2024, titled “Employment Opportunities in the Global Market: Seeking Jobs or Creating Jobs,” with the participation of more than 121 attendees, including higher management, administrative heads, faculty members, and administrative staff. Professor Asadul Islam from Monash University, Australia, was the keynote speaker. Professor Asad Islam is an development economist and the Director of the Centre for Development Economics and Sustainability (CDES) He is also an affiliated Professor at Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) , Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). alongside distinguished participants such as Professor Dr. Mohammad Shorif Uddin, Vice Chancellor of Green University, and Professor Dr. Mohammad Tareque Aziz, Dean of Green Business School.

The webinar addressed critical issues, including the impact of globalization on employment, equipping graduates with future-ready skills, and the role of technological advancements in shaping businesses and job markets. Speakers emphasized the need for practical and technology-driven education, contrasting Bangladesh’s challenges with countries like Vietnam, which excel in vocational training.

Key points of discussion included navigating global employment opportunities, addressing the gap in employable skills, and resolving the dilemma between job creation and job seeking. The interactive Q&A session explored topics such as the reforms needed in Bangladeshi education to compete globally, the struggles of local students compared to peers in India and Vietnam, and global economic trends influencing job creation. The event concluded with significant takeaways, such as integrating big data, enhancing human capital, curriculum development, fostering technological proficiency, understanding the gig economy, and promoting CSR practices. These outcomes provided a comprehensive roadmap for aligning education with global employment opportunities and empowering students to succeed in an increasingly competitive world.
