Guest Lecture Session on Microfinance: A Lighting Hope for Small Entrepreneurs:

All Finance Major Students of Green Business School have organized a Guest Lecture Session titled “Microfinance: A Lighting Hope for Small Entrepreneurs.” This session was conducted under Microfinance [FIN-403] course on July 16, 2021, at 03:30 pm using Zoom Platform. M. Maniruzzaman, Relationship Manager of Lanka Bangla Finance Limited, was the session speaker and conducted the entire session. However, the course instructor Md Asad Noor, Assistant Professor, GBS, summarized the session with the guest lecturer.At the beginning of the session, the key speaker was welcomed with a short speech from the course instructor.


M. Maniruzzaman designed the entire session in four parts. In the first part, he discussed the power of finance and shared some real-life examples of saving and investing. In the following part, he explained Cottage, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (CMSME) and why it is necessary forBangladesh. Later on, students are given some ideas about entrepreneurship and motivated to be entrepreneurs. Finally, he ended the session with some guidelines about the source of financing and scope of funding and showed the best alternatives. At the end of each part, there was a question answer session.
The entire program was intensively monitored & hosted by Mr. Md Asad Noor. He also thanked all the participants for making the session interactive and delightful!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Students’ visit to “Fragmented Fish Market in Chandpur”

For the requirement of the course “Project Management”, students from the Department of Green Business School under Major in Finance visited “Fish Market in Bangladesh: Chandpur” on January 23, 2021. The day-long study tour was titled “Learn with Fun”. They interviewed different fishermen and sellers on the prospects and challenges of the fragmented fish market in Bangladesh. The objective of this interview was to know the challenges due to overfishing, sufferings, government facilities, different credit schemes, key success factors of Bangladeshi fish industry, transaction systems of hilsha fish marketing, problems of fishery workers, and so on. Following the interview, the students had a 1-hour tour inside the market, and were surrounded to explore the prospect of tourism near Dhaka with a cost benefit analysis. Students got so many new things especially about the fish industry and their core activities from this visit. However, all the safety measures and sanitization process were maintained during the whole session.  This course is taught by Mr. Md. Asad Noor, Assistant Professor, Department of Green Business School.

 

New Year Food Festival 2020 :

The students of Principle of Marketing (BUS-201), GBS, have successfully organized the ‘New Year Food Festival’ at their permanent campus on January 1, 2020. The beautiful program was inaugurated by Ms. Umme Ruman, Assistant Professor  & Coordinator, (Permanent Campus). There prevailed a festive mode in every corner of the campus, where the guests including the faculty members, students, and the administrative staffs enjoyed the tasty foods a lot. The participating students sold their own products in their own stalls at the New Year Food Festival.

Promo Showcase 2019:

A Promotional Advertisements’ Presentation of GUB presented by the marketing students of Green Business School was held on 4th Dec 2019.

In this Promo Showcase five different groups from marketing major students presented five different promotional video made for our university. In this program there were promotional VDO displays along with the semi technical presentation related to the videos. Mainly two of the marketing major courses’ students collaborated to arrange this event, Services Marketing (facilitated by MS RUMANA FERDOUSE) and Integrated Marketing Communications (facilitated by Ms ROKEYA BINTE SAHID).

 

Flower Festival and Pousher Pithaa Utshob 2019:

It is amazing and lovely that GBS students have successfully organized a beautiful program named “Flower Festival & Pousher Pithaa Utsob” under the Entrepreneurship Development course (BUS-301) on December 02, 2019 at Seminar Hall (Room#502) from GBS. During the programme, the students of Entrepreneurship Development course have explored their innovative thoughts in a wonderful way. The Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Green University of Bangladesh inaugurated the program at 11:30 a.m.

Students, faculty and staff have enjoyed the taste of the delicious pithaa and colors & fragrances of magnificent flowers. Honorable Vice-Chancellor, GUB, Respected Dean, GBS, & Chairperson, GBS has shared their warm feelings regarding the program. We hope this kind of event will encourage the students to extract their entrepreneurial thought brilliantly.

 

 

HR Pitha Carnival 2019:

Tremendously interactive and vibrant initiatives have been taken from the students of HRM-410, Organizational Development and HRM-404, Management of Industrial Relations under the supervision of Ms. Meherun Nesa, Assistant Professor, GBS.

The program named as “HR Pitha Carnival 2019”. ‘Winter Pitha’ has been considered for the reward of the games as a metaphor. The motto of the program was to focus on different concepts of HRM through some presentations and HR games. The concept that have been included was

  • Talent acquisition
  • Career planning
  • Organizational development
  • Motivational exercise
  • Reward management

Game included:

  • Motivational game
  • Stress relieving
  • Quiz

The program was a success and close with prize giving ceremony.

 

DRAMA PRESENTATION OF SUMMER’2019:

As part of the GBS regular event, a drama on “Democracy and Dictatorship- its effects and implication on modern life” has been successfully arranged by the students of GED-113, Comparative Government course on 29th August 2019 for the partial fulfillment of that course. This drama and full program was supervised by the course instructor Laila Ferdousy, Lecturer, Green Business School. Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md Golam Samdani Fakir and Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Muhammad Fayyaz Khan, honorable treasurer of Green University of Bangladesh Md. Shahid Ullah, and Chairperson of GBS Prof. Dr. Helal Uddin Ahmed; Faculty members of the department and students were also present there.

 

The students of GBS did their best to arrange the event. Each of them played a significant role towards the success of the event.  It is expected that this drama presentation will help participants to be socially responsible and get better understanding about Democracy, Dictatorship and scarifies of Socrates for ideal democracy.

HR MELA Talent Hunt –GBS 2019:

An Inter -University HRM talent Show, titled “HR MELA Talent Hunt –GBS 2019” was held on 18/04/2019 at IQAC Auditorium (A-302) from 12.30 pm to 7.00 pm in Green University of Bangladesh. Students from the courses of HRM- 407, HRM – 411, BUS -207 and BUS- 309 organized this event under the supervision of Ms. Meherun Nesa, Assistant Professor, GBS. The overall concept of this program is to preparing highly competent professionals in different arena of HRM by taking initiatives of sharing clear concept of HRM, practice of HRM, future challenge of HRM among the student’s from different universities so that future graduates are well prepared to face the challenges of the industry. This is the second time Green Business School (GBS) have organized such type of event. First ‘HR Mela’ was held on 11 Oct’2018 within the University. This time extremely talented students from 07 private universities including Green University of Bangladesh have joined to show their talent in the area of HRM. The event has been appreciated from the participatory universities very positively.

Chief guest of the event was Prof. Dr. Golam Samdani Fakir Vice- Chancellor of Green University of Bangladesh and special guest was Prof. Dr. Muhammad Fayaaz Khan, Pro Vice–Chancellor of Green University of Bangladesh. Guest Speakers were Md.Tarek Khan, Assistant Director, Directorate of Students’ Welfare (DSW), University of Asia Pacific, Mr. Abu Hena MD Rasel, Director, career services office, University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) and Ms. Shamima Akhtar khanom, head of HR Department, Nitol Niloy Division, Nitol Niloy Group.

An Interesting Exhibition of Global Marketing Students:

The students of Global Marketing (MKT-402) have successfully organized the program of ‘Interesting Exhibition’ on the 16th April, 2019 at Green Seminar Hall, Room# 502. This exhibition was supervised by the course instructor Rumana Ferdouse, Assistant Professor, Green Business School This is a course based assignment & presentation program, where students get scope to explore their innovation and creativity.

ECO-Green Exhibition:

As part of the GBS regular event, a ECO Green Exhibition has been successfully arranged by the students of ECO-101, Microeconomics course on 16th April 2019 for the partial fulfillment of that course. This exhibition was supervised by the course instructor Laila Ferdouse, Lecturer, Green Business School. Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md Golam Samdani Fakir and Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Muhammad Fayyaz Khan, Registrar Md. Saiful Islam ,Dean of GBS Prof. Golam Ahmed Faruqui and Chairperson of GBS Prof. Dr. Helal Uddin Ahmed; Facukty members of the department and students were also present there.

The students of GBS did their best to arrange the event. Each of them played a significant role towards the success of the event.

Innovative Business Idea Exhibition:

The students of Entrepreneurship Development (BUS-301) have successfully organized the program of ‘Innovative Business Idea Exhibition’ on the 9th April, 2019 at Green Seminar Hall, Room# 502. This is a course based assignment& presentation program, where students get scope to explore their innovation and creativity. Participated groups Have shown their products of different categories like, household items, souvenirs & showpieces, lampshades, handicrafts, perfumes, and online business support services.

Demo Interview on HRM:

Interview is an essential part for any student’s life to get a job. Many students are nervous while interviewing for a position. While selecting the right candidate is the primary purpose behind the interview, keep in mind that the interview process is an important learning opportunity for the students. It will provide them with experience, confidence. To serve this purpose a “Demo Interview” has been taken for the students of International Human Resource Management course on 4th April, 2019. The program was supervised by the course instructor Mr. Mohammad Tamzid, Senior Lecturer, Green Business School. Mr. Md. Asad Noor, Senior Lecturer, Green Business School attended as Guest Interviewer to the program.

 

Interactive Practical Based Industry Visit:

The students of course Name: Fundamental of Banking, Course  code: BUS-309 have conducted a very interactive practical based industry visit at EBL Shawrapara branch on 2nd April at 04.00 pm for the fulfillment  of their assignment under the supervision of course teacher Ms. Meherun Nesa ,Assistant Professor, GBS. The visit was extremely helpful to understand the theory with the real application in practice.

The branch manager Md. Rezaul Hossain Manik was extremely cooperative with us and positive on our visit. He showed the different departments of the bank and introduced with the departmental head. We talked on different real life practice in banking and the specific practices of EBL. The students achieved a real experience on banking and also cleared their different queries from the executives.

We appreciate visits like this that really bring a real experience among the graduate students.

 

Industry Visit as Team Assignment for Principle of Marketing Students:

Industry visit is one of the integral parts of the course design for business students, especially for the undergraduate program. This will help to enhance their understanding and association with the real business world. Therefore, an industry visit had been arranged by Ms. Rumana Ferdouse, Assistant Professor, Green Business School for the Principle of Marketing’s students. They visited to several industries as team assignment, on 6th of March.

Innovative Business Plan Exhibition- Young Entrepreneurship Contest 2018:

Green Business School has organized “Innovative Business Plan Exhibition- Young Entrepreneurship Contest 2018”, which was held at the IQAC Auditorium (Room-302) on October 24, 2018. This gorgeous program was inaugurated by our Honorable Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Golam Samdani Fakir at 11:00 am. Prof. Dr. Golam Ahmed Faruqui, Dean, GBS, Prof. Dr. Helal Uddin Ahmed, Chairperson, GBS, and all other faculty members were present at the program. Ms. Showkat Ara Khanam, Ms. RokeyaBinteShahid, Ms. Meherun Nesa have supervised the whole program as program moderators. ‘Ronger Muri’ and ‘Tandoori Tea Shop and Sandwich’ have jointly got the first position based on their innovative food ideas and popularity’. Green Business Club has facilitated this fantastic program all the way nicely.

 

Industry Visit for Services Marketing Students:

Industry visit is one of the integral parts of the course design for business students, especially for the undergraduate program. This will help to enhance their understanding and association with the real business world. Therefore an industry visit had been arranged by Ms. Rumana Ferdouse, Assistant Professor, Green Business School for the Services Marketing’s (one of the major courses of marketing) students. They visited to UBER, one of the internationally renowned and leading rides sharing company, on 27th of October.

 

 

 

Collaborative Learning Session :

Knowledge cannot be flourished until it is shared and Business Administration is such a degree where courses are supposed to design based on more practical oriented knowledge rather text book. This is why the marketing research course’s students are assigned to complete a real-time research on the topic of “Identifying the influencing factors and its impact on students’ enrollment in GBS”. And to complete the analysis part they need the know-how of the professional statistical software. Thus this session has been arranged by Ms. Rumana Ferdouse, Assistant Professor, Green Business School with the collaboration of CRIT (Center for Research Innovation and Transformation) to train them with the software (SPSS) by a proper professional and make them learn how to use the software to analyze their research data and interpreting the research results. Here are some of the glimpses of the session.

 

‘HR MELA” has been successfully launched by the students of HRM Major and BUS- 207 :

As part of the GBS regular events a fair namely ‘HR MELA” has been successfully launched by the students of HRM Major and BUS- 207 on 11 October, 2018 for the partial fulfillment of the HRM course. This Fair was supervised by the course instructor Meherun Nesa, Assistant Professor, Green Business School. Muhammad Fayyaz Khan, Pro-Vice Chancellor , of GUB presided over the program while Prof. Dr.; Md. Shahid Ullah, Treasurer; Prof. Dr. Golam Ahmed Faruqui, Dean; Prof. Dr. Helal Uddin Ahmed, Chairperson; Faculty members of the department and students were also present there. Our honorable, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Golam Samdani Fakir also observed the whole event after his arrival from his morning schedules. Green Business School arranges this kind of events on experience for the students. 41 students had to study and research different HRM related issues carefully and displayed their concept and a drama that has been played on conflict resolution issues. Everybody enjoyed the fair fully and honorable VC, PRO VC, Treasurer, Faculties and students appreciated about the contents and initiatives very much.

 

Drama on Micro-finance :

For the partial fulfillment of the Micro-Finance course, a drama was performed by the students of Finance Major on 1 October, 2018. This drama was supervised by the course instructor Mr. Md. Asad Noor, Senior Lecturer, Green Business School. Prof. Dr. Md. Golam Samdani Fakir, Vice Chancellor of GUB presided over the program while Prof. Dr. Muhammad Fayyaz Khan, Pro-Vice Chancellor; Md. Shahid Ullah, Treasurer; Prof. Dr. Golam Ahmed Faruqui, Dean; Prof. Dr. Helal Uddin Ahmed, Chairperson; Faculty members of the department and students were also present there.

Green Business School arranges this kind of hands on experience for the students. 15 students had to research the micro-finance issues carefully and portrayed the character accordingly. Everybody enjoyed the event fully and honorable VC, PRO VC & Treasurer appreciated very much.

A “Poster exhibition” was presented by the Fresher’s (Batch-181, Green Business School); Section#2 on 10th of April 2018. This event helps students to boost their confidence for the partial fulfillment of the course, Introduction to Business.
